The biggest solution in setting up a business continuity plan is to have your IT infrastructure transferred online by availing of services from cloud computing vendors. And undoubtedly, the biggest portion of this business continuity solution is having all or most workstations virtualized, the most common type being hosted desktops.

Does anyone remember the reselling craze for web hosting a few years back? If you have no idea what I am talking about then you missed a stepping stone into making some good monthly money. It can be a huge profit center and it works great! It’s a program called Citrix White Label Provider. It utilizes the same idea as cloud computing, but at a better angle. I am sure you have heard of cloud computing or hosted desktop service provider. Cloud Computing is not just a storage of large data, its infrastructure is also designed for the user to enjoy a better processing capacity and share this data on multiple devices at the same time so long as these devices are able to access a third party system via the internet. It’s like having a super computer that does all the heavy lifting for you. A Citrix White Label Provider has the same capability and more!

After the Citrix White Label presentation at Synergy this past year, Green Qube has been asked several questions about our Hosted Desktop or Desktop-as-a-Service solution.  For the most part everyone has wanted to know how to offer a Cloud Desktop as a solution, how to sell a Cloud Desktop service.

The answer is you don’t.

There are some exceptions however.  There are particular use cases for just a distinct desktop with a certain app load or even no apps where no data is kept.  Educational labs would be a good example.

But if you are a traditional MSP (Managed Service Provider), this is not the use case for your customer.

Keep in mind that in the SMB and Enterprise market, the desktop, traditional or hosted, is only a part of the solution.  This is why the whole BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) movement is taking hold.  The desktop is just a shell that allows the user to interface with data and applications.  So the desktop is sold as an access point to the solution.

The key to offering a Hosted Desktop service is to offer a full solution along with it.

DaaS is a hot topic.  But don’t let it stop there.  Use it as a gateway to offering a complete solution.  One that includes data management, application management, security, and business continuity.

As my rifle instructor taught me, don’t get tunnel vision.  It will keep you from seeing all the other targets.

If you are like me and a technoid, you have probably said, “I can build a better mouse trap.”  When it comes to computers, networks, and technology, I like to get my hands dirty.  I love to design a solution and see it come together.  Know all the in’s and out’s because I built it.  I also know that by doing so, my customer ends up with the best solution for their budget.
